DepEd Dumaguete City holds Training-Workshop on Edmodo

The Schools Division of Dumaguete City, through the ICT Services Unit headed by Mr. Kim Li Faburada, ITO I, conducted a one day Training-Workshop on Becoming an Experienced Users of Edmodo on January 23, 2018 at the DepEd Dumaguete City Convergence Zone. The said training-workshop was participated by Division Office personnel, Elementary and Secondary Schools Heads, selected School ICT Coordinators, English, Mathematics, and Science teachers, and the identified Edmodo School Ambassadors.

The division initiated activity aims to capacitate the participants on becoming an experienced users of Edmodo through interactive sessions, train teachers and non-teaching personnel who can act as an anchor community for the larger educators' community of the Division of Dumaguete City, and express commitment in taking part of the Edmodo Educator's Community for a better teaching-learning opportunities.

Dr. Evangel M. Luminarias, Schools Division Superintendent, in her message, stressed the vital role played by technology in enhancing the delivery of instruction. Specifically, she pointed out the many benefits of technology supported systems like Edmodo in making a more interactive and fitting learning experiences for the learners in achieving the desired competencies expected of them to master. “Teachers must likewise be abreast to what technologies can offer to education. You need to possess skills that meet your students’ needs and interests. Hence, everyone must be receptive to worthwhile trainings like this because this is both for your personal and professional growth. This is a very helpful way of integrating ICT-based instruction- which is the current trend in education”, she added.

The conduct of the training-workshop was facilitated by no less than the Edmodo Director for Strategic Partnerships, Mr. Bilal Musharraf. During the training proper, the participants were engaged into enhancement hands-on and interactive activities that further increased their knowledge, skills and attitudes towards ICT-based instruction. To name a few, workshop on creating an Edmodo account, making connections, uploading and sharing of resources, and the like were introduced to the participants.

Cognizant of the vital role of ICT in the realization of providing quality basic education, a signing and turning over of certificate of partnership was also conducted. The short ceremony forged a strong tie of support and collaboration between the Department of Education Division of Dumaguete City represented by Dr. Evangel M. Luminarias and Edmodo represented by Mr. Bilal Musharraf.

Present also during the training-workshop were Girish Kshirsagar, Team Lead in Edmodo Integrations Team, to train the Edmodo Administrator of the division, and Mrs. Dae P. Habalo, Edmodo Ambassador and Edmodo Certified Trainer (ECT).
