The seminar-workshop focused on the following topics: Introduction to Computers, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Excel as part of the Service-Learning Integration, an outreach program of the Computer Fundamental class of Silliman University (SU). The service learning aimed to help teachers explore about the computer world useful in their profession.
The 3-day ICT Literacy Training equipped the participants with technological learning. Dr. Juditha O. Mapue, CID Chief of the City Division welcomed the participants on the first day of training. She reiterated to the participants the benefits they will reap from the said training and she stressed, "I am very happy to see DepEd Dumaguete City Division teachers at Silliman University and surely this activity will help you in your profession."
According to Ms. Mercy Palad, Dumaguete City High School English teacher, "...the training made me more literate in using the computer. If only I learned these before, computing grades and making instructional materials would be easier." Another teacher from Batinguel Elementary School expressed that the training would enable her to enhance instructional materials that would capture more attention to learners.
Antoinette Borromeo, an SU student commented that the experience she had, taught her a lot of things especially on certain topics that she was unaware of. She further mentioned that if given another opportunity, she is open to attend this kind of training to gain more experience in handling and socializing with people in the teaching profession.
To sum it all, Dr. Evangel M. Luminarias, DepEd Dumaguete City Schools Division Superintendent conveyed her happiness for the DepEd Dumaguete participantswho are committed in improving their knowledge on ICT awareness. Dr. Luminarias reiterated that DepEd Dumagete is lucky to have Silliman University as a partner school.
