DepEd Dumaguete set sights to be 1st NIRAA Champ

With Go for Gold as the delegation’s battle cry, the Division of Dumaguete joins the first Negros Island Regional Athletic Association Meet to be held from February 8 to 12, 2016 with DepEd Bacolod anboxingd DepEd San Carlos as the Division Hosts.

According to the Athletic Manager, Mrs. Rosenie B. Saraṅa, a total of 591 delegates from Dumaguete will join the first NIRAA Meet. 393 of these are athletes while the remaining numbers are the coaches, assistant coaches, and commit-tee members. The said delegation is billeted in Doňa Corazon Montelibano Elementary School and Don Alfredo Montelibano Elementary School, Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City. These athletes are expected to compete in the different sports events in the said meet.

Heading the delegation is the Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Evangel M. Luminarias, CESO V with the Dumaguete Mayor, Manuel T. Sagarbarria, as the Honorary Chairman. Dr. Luminarias is assisted by Assistant Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. Neri C. Ojastro, CESE as the Assistant Delegation Head.

NIRAA 2016 is the first ever Regional Athletic Meet held with the merging of two Negros provinces; Negros Oriental and Negros Occidental into One Island Region through the Executive Order No. 183 issued by President Benigno S. Aquino III last May 2015.

The theme of NIRAA 2016, “One Island, One Region, One Vision”, promotes the spirit of unity between the two Negros provinces.
