DepEd is all set for K to 12 : ASec Umali

“K to 12 ngayon, hindi bukas” - that is what Atty. Tonisito M.C. Umali CESO II, Assistant Secretary for Legal and Legislative Affairs pointed to the students and parents. He advised students to continue dreaming for whatever they decide now; they will become. Asec. Umali highlighted the accomplishments of the Department in terms of participation and completion rates and construction of classrooms and hiring of teachers. He emphasized that DepEd is all set for the full implementation of the k to 12 program. This was stressed in his keynote speech during the K to 12 Karaban ug Tigum Alang sa Kaugmaun sa Kabataan participated in by more than 1100 multi-stakeholders at the Dumaguete City High school Multi-purpose gymnasium.
Dr. Ramir B. Uytico, CESO IV, Schools Division Superintendent of the host city division also presented the preparations that Dumaguete City has done for the full implementation of the senior high school. These included the conduct of information dissemination to students and parents on the senior high school program.
Dr. Juliet A. Jeruta, CESO V, Regional Director of DepEd RO 7, headed the delegates of superintendents, supervisors and education program specialists from the different schools divisions of Negros Oriental. Among the superintendents present in the forum were Mr. Bianito Dagatan, CESO V from Bais City, SDS Mr. Bernardo Ysulan of Tanjay City, and Mrs. Marilyn Andales, CESO VI of Guihulngan City.
Representing the Local Government Unit were: Congressman George P. Arnaiz, 2 nd Congressional District Representative, Governor Roel R. Degamo of the Province of Negros Oriental, Vice Mayor Woodrow S. Maquiling of Dumaguete, Hon Lilani L. Ramon, City Councilor and Chairperson of the Education Committee, Hon. Lionel P. Banogon, ABC President of Dumagute City and Mayor Ernesto Reyes of Guihulngan City.
The activity was participated in by grade 10 pupils from public and private high schools and school administrators from Asian College Dumaguete Campus, AMA College Dumaguete Campus, Colegio de Sta. Catalina de Alejandria (COSCA), SLS-Don Bosco, Foundation University High School, Holy Cross High School, Metro Dumaguete College, Negros Oriental State University (NORSU), St. Paul University Dumaguete, Silliman University, and STI College.
